Obituary for Ted Cundiff
James “Ted” Cundiff, DVM, was born March 4, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH and departed this life on November 20, 2023 in Lexington, KY. He was the son of the late James Lawrence and Lucy Eckman Cundiff of Beattyville. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Stamper Cundiff and 2 daughters and a son in law, Elizabeth Cundiff, Karen Cundiff, and Ryan Reams, DVM all of Beattyville.
Ted attended the University of Kentucky and Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1968. A practicing veterinarian for 54 years, he served a large portion of central and eastern Kentucky. He was a 20 plus year member of the Lee County Board of Education, serving most of those as chairman of the board. He was a 20 plus year member of the Lee County Board of Health and a member of the Jackson Energy Coop board for 17 years.
Other than his family and vet work, his other great passion was farming. An active farmer his entire life, he enjoyed working in hay, checking on and caring for his cattle, and just being involved in day to day farm operations.
