Samuel Clay Watkins
Samuel Clay Watkins, husband of Ercie Charles Watkins and the son of the late Herman and Lillie Combs Watkins was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky on June 14, 1927 and departed this life in Booneville, Kentucky on January 14, 2015 at the age of 87 years and 7 months. He was a minister for over 50 years, Evangelist at the Beattyville Church of Christ, and worked as a foreman for the Kentucky State Highway Department.
In addition to his wife Ercie, he is survived by three children, Peggy Wilson and husband Glen of St. Helens, Kentucky, April Stevens and husband David of Richmond, Kentucky, and Sam Watkins of Lexington, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Candida Luttrell and husband Walter, Cassie Noe and husband Mark, Brandon Watkins and wife Amanda, and Brittany Rose and husband Andy; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Watkins of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Betty Jean Burton of South Lyons, Michigan and Lelia Bailey of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Gladys Allen.
Pallbearers will be Andy Rose, Brandon Watkins, Mark Noe, Darrell Steele, Darren Steele, and Kenneth Steele.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Steele, Joe Rogers, Phillip Lane, Wendell Wiser, Clinton Bishop, Charlie Perdue, Mark Byrd, and Glendon Lamb.
