Obituary for Johnny Ann Samples (Coomer)

Johnny Ann Samples, widow of Dewey “Green” Samples and the daughter of the late Jim and Corah Moore Coomer was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 21, 1942 and departed this life at her home in Beattyville, Kentucky on August 9, 2019 at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 19 days. Johnny Ann was a member of the Mt. Olive Pentacostal Church and worked as a social worker, beautician, and a cook.
She is survived by five children, Kenny Dunahoo (Tara), Donna Coomer (Donald), Danny Dunahoo (Maurine) all of Beattyville, Kentucky, Sue Sparks of Booneville, Kentucky, and Teresa Day (William) of Texas; 13 grandchildren, Melissa Wagoner, Tonya Lambert, Chelsey Dunahoo, Eddie Dunahoo (JoAnn), Christopher Miniard, Heather Miniard, Cristy Miniard, Eddie Ross, Brandon Sparks, Gordon Scott, Desmond Scott, Jared Scott, and Emmi Warner; 9 great-grandchildren, Kennedy Lambert, Mason Dunahoo, Kardinal Roark, Levi Ross, Brayden Sparks, Kaison Wheeler, Desire Speakman, Jeremy Speakman, and Sierra Speakman; a sister-in-law, Pauline Coomer; a special friend, Brenda White; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Green and her parents; Johnny Ann is preceded in death by her first husband, John Decoursey Dunahoo; one son, Edwin Wayne Dunahoo; and three siblings, Tommy Coomer, Betty Bray, and Emmit Coomer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Newnam Funeral Home.
