Obituary for Mattie Ruth Congleton (Rowlette)

Mattie Ruth Rowlette Congleton, widow of Luther Congleton and the daughter of the late Celbert Rowlette and Dezzie Rowlette Farmer, was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on November 10, 1932 and departed this life in Richmond, Kentucky on June 8, 2019 at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 29 days. She was a member of the Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mattie loved her family, her home, and her flowers and was known to be a perfect southern lady, loving to cook for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Verlene Congleton Hacker and husband James Hacker of Booneville, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Shade William Neace, Michael Congleton, Dana Cody Freeman, Chris Cody, and Jamie Davenport; four step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Estill Lee Farmer, Jesse William Rowlette, Lennie Mae Herald, Donna Jean Brandenburg, and Connie Sue Wolfinbarger; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents; Mattie is preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Romaine King; one son, Roger Congleton; brother and sister, Viola Irene Congleton and Celbert Rowlette, Jr.; and her step father, Ben Farmer.
