Obituary for Mearl Brandenburg

Mearl Brandenburg, widower of Nell Baker Brandenburg and the son of the late Floyd and Ollie Smith Brandenburg, was born in Lee County, Kentucky on October 8, 1922 and departed this life in Richmond, Kentucky on January 8, 2019 at the age of 96 years and 3 months. Mearl worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Kentucky State Highway Department, a truck driver for the Congleton Bros. Coal Mine and was also a cattle and tobacco farmer. He attended the Standing Rock Church and Ida May Bible Church.
Mearl is survived by two sons, Ronnie E. Brandenburg and wife Janice and Kenneth P. Brandenburg and wife Ruth all of Beattyville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Dennis E. Brandenburg and wife Angela of Richmond, Kentucky, Rhonda Kay Miller and husband Fred of Lexington, Kentucky, Scott Brandenburg and wife Amy and Greg S. Brandenburg and wife Kristin of Beattyville; nine great grandchildren, Cortney, Kyra, Kayla, Kennedy, Krymson, Jeffrey, Olivia, Brooklyn, and Cali; one great-great grandchild, Kaisyn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mearl is preceded in death by four brothers, Clinton, Lonnie, Marcus, and Thomas; five sisters, Mary Jane, Lula Mae, Anna Lee, Christine, and Earlene; and one great grandchild, Julia.
