LUCY JANE ABNEY, the widow and homemaker of Hugh Abney, and the daughter of the late Chester and Ercie Cooper Cole, was born in Lee County, Kentucky on February 6, 1932 and departed this life in Beattyville, Kentucky on March 12, 2018 at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 6 days.
Mrs. Abney is survived by one son, David Arnold of Georgetown, Kentucky; four daughters, Barbara Kidd of Beattyville, Donna Brandenburg of Winchester, Kentucky, Patsy Tirey of Booneville, Kentucky and Pamela Cole of Beattyville; one sister, Greta Brown of Versailles, Kentucky; one brother, Chester Cole, Jr. of Booneville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Abney was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hugh; a son, Bobby Arnold; a daughter, Marie Allen; a brother, John Benjamin (JB) Cole; and a great granddaughter, Janet Allen.
