Darrell Wayne Gentry, son of the late Ellis and Nora Olinger Gentry was born in Clay County, Kentucky on August 8, 1948 and departed this life in Lexington, Kentucky on December 19, 2017 at the age of 69 years, 4 months, and 11 days.
Darrell is survived by five children, Bradley Gentry and John Gentry of Beattyville, Kentucky, Gary Robinson of Jackson County, Kentucky, Mary Shelton of West Liberty, Kentucky, and Felisha Gentry of Beattyville; eight grandchildren, Travis, Heaven, Michael, and Madison Gentry, Brian and Elizabeth Shelton, and Chad and Hayley Robinson; 9 brothers and sisters, Carol Taylor of Beattyville, Dale Gentry, Darlene Moore, Maggie, Glen, Mark, and Mike Gentry all of Harrison County, Kentucky, and Theresa and Kelly Beach both of Winchester, Kentucky; ex-wife, Alene Gentry of Beattyville, Kentucky; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Gentry; sister-in-law, Regina Gentry; his grandmother, Letha Bingham; his stepdad, John Taylor; one uncle, Virgil Olinger; and one nephew, Billy Gentry.
