Larry Wayne Cornett, the husband of Mary Sanders Cornett and the son of the late John Sam and Lucy Wilmer Sasser Cornett, was born in Laurel County, Kentucky on April 5, 1951 and departed this life in Lexington, Kentucky on April 9, 2017 at the age of 66 years and 4 days. He served as Deacon of the Farriston Christian Church and after moving to Beattyville, Mr. Cornett served as an Elder and ministered to the Community Christian Church. He was also, the Lee County High School’s Athletic Director and Academic Team Coach, retiring from teaching after 41 years in October of 2013.
In addition to his wife Mary, Mr. Cornett is survived by 3 sons; John Wayne Cornett and wife Julia, and their children, Brayan Wesley, Mason Creed, and Lucy Madeline Cornett; James Stuart Cornett and children, Branden Green and Derek Reed; and Jerry Lee Cornett and wife Heather, and their children, Kylie Grace and Jacob Tyler Cornett; one brother, David Keith Cornett; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Jerome, Sherrell, and Jerry Cornett.
