Oberean Newton, widower of Geneva Estes Newton and son of the late Wilson and Gracie Isaacs Newton, was born in Lee County, Kentucky on June 30, 1937 and departed this life at his home in Beattyville, Kentucky on September 10, 2015 at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 11 days. He worked for the University of Kentucky for many years as a Boiler Operator.
Oberean is survived by his five children, Barbara Newton Watts and Gayle Oberean Newton, both of Beattyville, Kentucky, James Edward Newton and wife Deloris of Austin, Indiana, Amanda Newton Addison and husband James of Beattyville, and Juanita Dehart and husband Tracy of Austin, Indiana; eight grandchildren, John and Robert Watts, Scott and Brandon Newton, Christina and Seth Newton, and Timothy and Austin Addison; three step grandchildren, Grace, Tasha, and Joey; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Wilma Newton of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Joseph Newton; two brothers, Odean and Roger; and two sisters, Orlean and Shirley.
